• Graphical design of the fire systems
Thanks to the integration of the different Mc4Suite 2008 modules, FireCad calculates the hazard level depending on the type of wall surfaces of the compartment.
Next, it can position all sprinklers inside the protected areas automatically. Finally, FireCad checks the ST, S and TI structures coefficient and determines if it is compatible with its hazard level.
• Powerful and sophisticated calculation algorithm
To solve the net system equations, FireCad uses one of the most sophisticated and powerful calculation algorithms present on the market.
The calculation algorithm is based on a physics-mathematical method which can solve the pipe net system no matter how complex.
In effect, the program solves the non-linear equation system dependent on the pipes net and it calculates the pressure drop and the water flow rate.
• A different approach to the calculation depending on the type of fire system design
Automatic Sprinkler System: calculation of the operative area depends on legal requirements; pipe sizing depends on required water velocity; favorable and unfavorable area location; calculation of the pressure pump necessary to obtain the nominal water flow rate for each sprinkler; calculation of tank capacity of the water to assure the time autonomy to the system, according to the legal requirements.

Hydrant system: In this case the program takes in consideration the hydrants working simultaneously. Depending on the hazard level and the type of protection (internal/external) of the protected areas, the program calculates all hydraulic design parameters.
• Analytical fire loads calculation
The program contains an archive of material. This can be used to create parametric blocks which can be inserted in the plan project.
For each compartment, it is possible to calculate a reduction coefficient to determine its hazard level.
• Simulations: Check the pipe system before building it
The program, equipped with a powerful calculation algorithm, is able to simulate the functioning of the pipe system under different conditions.
To simulate, it is enough to select the hydrants or the sprinklers working simultaneously and run the calculation of verification command.
• Output
The program supplies the dimensioned plan of the project (building and pipe system) to the designer; also, it gives the user any section or isometric view.
The calculation report displays the pressure drop, the water flow rate for each pipe trunk, and material list. The drawing is exportable into the .dwg or .dxf file format, or it is possible to annex it to the architectural plan which has been used to create the input.
The calculation and the material list report are in rtf or xls file format.
• Flexibility and accuracy
The program uses the NFPA 13-2002 and NFPA 14 Normative to the letter, and the designer is free to define all calculation parameters. Possessing flexibility in adapting to different design requirements means FireCad 2008 is a really versatile program.
• Multipurpose piping systems drawind and sizing
The program draws and performs calculations for piping systems within a residential occupancy intended to serve both domestic and fire protection needs. All required conditions are considered by the program claculation method according to the NFPA 13D standard.
• Electronic Bill of Material.
The program allows complete and accurate estimates using catalog data. System components displayed pictorially along with article numbers, description and list prices. List price multiplier can be specified and applied to al selected materials. Labor rate and time estimate ccan be included for complete quotations.
